Welcome to Piano Made Easy. I’ve been teaching music for 30 years. My focus is on making the learning process as easy and enjoyable as possible. I use some of the best resources available to assist you or your child with the learning process. I’m a patient and friendly teacher, and I love sharing the gift of music. I have a strong interest in teaching students how to play with depth of feeling and sensitivity of touch, as well as with excellent technique.

How are Lessons Conducted?

Lessons can be either in person - one on one (subject to covid 19 levels) or via the internet on skype or zoom.

What Do I Teach?

Lessons are structured to suit each student’s interests and ability and can include: learning to read music, sight reading, theory, scales and arpeggios, ear training, and playing a wide variety of pieces. I can also teach aspects of  developing the ability to improvise. The main styles of piano music that I teach are: classical, contemporary and blues/ragtime.

I don’t take students through formal exams, however, I can still teach the same skills that would be required for passing exams. I prefer a more flexible approach and teaching a wider range of music.

For children, to provide a sound structure, I use the Alfred’s Basic Piano Library - levels 1-6. I also mix this with additional pieces and skill development from other sources. I teach children beginning from age five. Some children are not ready to learn piano until they are a few years older, and an assessment of their readiness is made during the first lesson.

For adults, I either use the Alfred’s Basic Adult Piano Course, levels 1 - 3, or I design the lessons more specifically around pieces that inspire the student.

Free First Lesson

I provide one free lesson, so you can meet me, find out more about the lessons and decide if you’d like to continue. Feel free to contact me to ask any questions or to arrange a lesson time. I can also email some introductory information about how lessons are conducted.
